Ana Carolina Silva Nappo

Software Engineer @ Nubank

Carol Silva Nappo is a Software Engineer at Nubank, working on the Storage and Databases team, where she maintains libraries that abstract databases like Datomic. After more than 15 years in the tourism and hospitality industry, she transitioned into tech in 2021 through {reprograma}, a free programming bootcamp for women. In 2022, she was accepted into the highly competitive and intense selection process at 42 São Paulo, a school that’s part of the French-founded global network known for its innovative, peer-to-peer approach to computer science education.

Passionate about a good challenge, Carol found in the Clojure programming language not only a way to deepen her problem-solving and critical thinking skills, but also a path to building self-confidence.

She dedicates part of her time to making learning more approachable through community meetups, open-source translations, and any exciting adventure that helps support people—like her—who often feel like outsiders.

Four friends, brought together by Lambda Days, reunited at conferences across Europe and the U.S., share their stories of learning, teaching, and growing in functional programming. With diverse backgrounds - formal education, self-taught, and mentorship - they explore how different paths shape how we code, collaborate, and teach others. Join us for a lively conversation full of insights, practical tips, and reflections on building skills, friendships, and inclusive learning spaces in the functional programming community.
