Thomas Gebert

Eccentric math enthusiast with years of distributed systems programming experience.

Thomas Gebert is a software engineer who has worked for a variety of companies and organizations, such as New York University, Jet.com, Apple, and currently Walmart Global Tech.

When he's not reading about functional programming, Thomas enjoys watching obscure movies and arguing with his neighbors.

I will show a demonstration of how I built a distributed hash-table video-sharing system, the technical hurdles I got over, and the advantages and disadvantages of using functional languages to do so. I gave a lightning talk in 2018 about this project, and I'd will go into more detail about the technical aspects of it, including design languages and distributed concepts like Vector Clocks.
